Every few weeks, I\u2019ll introduce you to another member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.messagingservice.com\">AccessDirect <\/a>team. This week, our featured employee is <strong>Matt Bowyer<\/strong>, our billing supervisor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> How long have you been with AccessDirect?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> I&#8217;ve been with AccessDirect since February of 2004, when I was hired to do customer service. Since then I&#8217;ve moved up in the company, and my job description has expanded to the point where I couldn&#8217;t fit it all on a business card if I tried. I take care of billing and top-level technical support, but I do a little of everything and can pinch-hit in every division.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> What\u2019s your favorite part of your job?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> Figuring out weird things. I&#8217;ll get an email from one of our sales reps asking for something unusual for a customer, and it&#8217;s my job to figure out how we can do that. Tackling that kind of challenge is fun &#8212; it gets me thinking, I can build programs and test them to see how well it will work for what they want, and it&#8217;s a level of problem-solving. That stuff is really satisfying for me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> What do you do in your spare time?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> I play a lot of video games. Probably too many; I&#8217;ve got two capable gaming PCs plus most every console that&#8217;s out. I also write &#8212; I&#8217;m working on the second draft of my first novel, and I&#8217;ve got other ideas in the queue behind it.\u00a0 Every Sunday I can be found on the couch pleading with the Redskins to not lose this game for once in their lives, so unfortunately I&#8217;ve gotten used to disappointment with my sports fandom. RG3, though, he&#8217;s the future. It&#8217;ll be different this time, just you wait.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:<\/strong> If you were to start a business of your own, what would it be?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> A used bookstore, on the corner of a small town street. The kind of place where you can come in, get a book off the shelf, and sit down and read with a cup of coffee with music playing in the background. A small place, one or two employees at a time, employees who would be passionate about reading and talking about literature, both high art and pulp fiction.
